A disposal that runs but won’t drain is usually a kitchen line problem, which is $159 to clear.

Swap it if it’s done
Installing a unit you supply is $139. A new 1/2 HP is $289 installed, and a 3/4 HP is $349.

Run water, run the unit, check the seals and the drain connection.

My disposal hums but doesn’t spin.
It’s jammed, not burned out. Something is caught between the impeller and the housing. Freeing and resetting it is $129 — worth trying before you buy a new one.
It’s leaking. Is that fixable?
Depends where from. A leak at the sink flange is often a reseal. A leak from the bottom of the unit itself means the internal seal has gone, and that’s a replacement — the housing isn’t serviceable.
1/2 HP or 3/4 HP?
1/2 HP ($289 installed) handles a normal household fine. 3/4 HP ($349) is worth it if you cook heavily, run a lot of vegetable waste, or have had jams before.
Can I put coffee grounds down it?
Better not to. Grounds, eggshells, and fibrous scraps like celery are the three things we pull out most. Grease is worse — it goes down warm and sets solid further along the line.
Can you install one I bought at the store?
