Usually in a box near the street, or on the wall where the water enters the house. Turn it clockwise until it stops. If it is seized, do not force it — shut the stop valve under the nearest fixture instead.

Once the main is off, open a hose bibb or the lowest cold tap in the house. That drains what is still sitting in the pipes away from your walls and floors rather than into them.

If water is near outlets, appliances or the electrical panel, keep out of the room and everyone else with you. Do not go to the panel to switch anything off. Photograph what you can see safely — insurers ask.

01Water is pouring out and won’t stop
Do this nowShut off the main. It’s usually in a box near the street or on the wall where the water enters the house — turn the valve clockwise until it stops.
If you can’t find it or it won’t turn, shut the stop valve under the nearest fixture and call. Don’t force a seized main valve; snapping it turns one problem into two.
02The water heater is leaking
Do this nowClose the cold water valve on top of the heater. If it runs on gas, turn the gas control to OFF; if it’s electric, switch off its breaker.
Don’t drain it or open the relief valve — the water inside is scalding and under pressure. Once it’s isolated it can safely wait for us.
03Sewage is backing up into the house
Do this nowStop running water anywhere in the house. Every sink, every flush, the washing machine and the dishwasher — all of it adds to what’s coming back up.
Keep people and pets out of the room. This is a main line blockage and it needs a camera and a machine, not a plunger.
04No water anywhere in the house
Do this nowCheck the main valve is fully open — it’s the usual answer after any work on the house. Then check whether a neighbour has water.
If the street has water and your main is open, the problem is between the meter and the house. That’s a riser or a service line, and it’s ours.
05You can smell gas — rotten eggs
Do this nowLeave the building now. Don’t switch anything on or off, don’t unplug anything, and don’t use a phone until you’re outside and well away.

Are you really available 24 hours?
Yes. Emergency calls are answered around the clock. Scheduled work runs 8am to 6pm, seven days a week — but a burst line at 2am doesn’t wait for business hours, so neither do we.
Do you charge extra for after-hours?
No. No after-hours charge and no trip fee, ever — nights, weekends, and holidays are priced exactly like a Tuesday morning. Most companies in the metro charge a premium for at least one of those, and several charge just to show up.
Where is my main shutoff?
In most Phoenix homes it’s at the riser — the pipe coming out of the ground near the front of the house, often behind a small access panel or near the hose bibb. Turn it clockwise. Worth finding it now, while nothing is wrong.
Should I book online for an emergency?
No. Booking requests a two-hour window and we confirm within the hour — fine for a leaking faucet, useless when water is running. Call 480-938-3803.
Sewage is backing up into my shower. What now?
Stop using water anywhere in the house — every flush adds to it. That symptom means the main line, not a fixture. Clearing a main drain is $189, and if it recurs a $99 camera inspection tells you why.
